Who doesn’t remember turning the crank on their Jack In The Box waiting for it to ‘pop up’? Make this Jack In The Box mug rug for yourself or someone you love. Directions are for fusible applique using Wonder-Web® and parchment paper, with hand buttonhole. If desired, design may be machine appliqued instead.

Materials Needed

  • One 8-1/2” square Block background
  • Scraps of various Cotton  fabrics for the applique (see photo for colors)
  • One 2-1/2” x 8-1/2“ rectangle of fabric for Sashing
  • One 8-1/2” x 10-1/2“ rectangle of fabric for Backing
  • Two 2-1/2” strips of fabric for Binding
  • One 8-1/2” x 10-1/2” rectangle Pellon® TP971F Fusible Thermolam® Plus
  • 1/4 yard Pellon® 807 Wonder-Web®
  • Parchment Paper
  • Thread
  • Hot fix crystals or beads
  • Embroidery floss to match the applique

  • Sewing machine and related supplies
  • Rotary cutter and related supplies
