Meet Beverly
Pellon: Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Beverly: I love finding inspiration for my crafts from things that I see in stores and catalogs, and sometime from needs or ideas that come up during the day. I love creating pretty and useful things that are simple and fun to do.Fabric prints are also a great source of inspiration – sometimes a set of fabric just blends so perfectly together and you know just what to make with it.
P: What does your creative process entail?
B: I usually sketch out an idea, then refine the item as I go. Often the finished product isn’t exactly what I came up with initially, but that is part of the of the fun of creating.
P: Why do you enjoy sewing & crafting?
B: I love to sew and create because it is a passion of mine. I love the way fabrics and projects come together to brighten up my home, wardrobe or for gifts.
P: Do you create mainly for satisfaction, gifts, art or another reason?
B: I don’t create for any particular reason – other than I love it. I enjoy making handmade gifts, I think they are so personal. And handmade items in a home make your décor so much more personal.
P: What tips or tricks learned through experience can you share?
B: I would say the main tip I would have is not to give or be discouraged. Even if you think a project is a “Fail”, you can usually springboard off to a similar idea and make something else fabulous!
P: When and why did you start sewing/quilting/crafting?
B: I started sewing/crafting when I was 12 or 13. It’s been a love of mine ever since.
P: What triggers you to start a project?
B: I always have a project going. 🙂 Usually it’s triggered by something I want to make for my house, or a fabric I’ve seen, or the current holiday. I also love learning and trying new things, so it is fun to try projects that allow me to learn.
